Deschutes Rim Health Clinic
PO Box 266
Maupin, OR 97037
July 20, 2006
Dear Candidate,
The Board of the White River Health District is establishing the Deschutes Rim Health Clinic in Maupin, Oregon. This will be the first rural clinic ever established in southern Wasco County. The clinic will provide comprehensive primary health services to the 4500 population that resides within 175 square miles around Maupin. It is anticipated that the clinic will begin its clinical operations in early 2007.
The White River Health District is now actively recruiting a nurse practitioner to complement its medical and dental providers. The nurse practitioner will have an opportunity to claim a significant core of health care delivery in the area. He/she will be expected to advocate health promotion and disease prevention in the geographic area served by the clinic. This will be done in large part by teaching people ways to stay healthy and treating them for their acute health problems (e.g., lacerations, colds, and muscle strain) and chronic diseases (e.g., high blood pressure, coronary artery disease, and diabetes). This is a great opportunity to work in a new medical practice and shape the future of health care in the area. The Board is looking for an individual with a desire to become a part of the community and who will, in the process, enjoy providing medical care to our community.
Maupin is centrally located in the state of Oregon and offers many outdoor experiences, such as rafting, fly fishing, and hunting. It is only one hour from Mt. Hood which has almost year round skiing. Maupin offers a small town living opportunity but is within short driving distance to larger cities (e.g., Bend and Portland). Maupin has experienced many changes over the years and the future of Maupin shows growth potential with in the near future.
